Two Webmaster comments on the required medical for the over 40s:
'After a blood pressure test it was most arduous. Stand up, raise arms over head, touch toes (which I did without bending my knees!), look left and look right.'
On returning to Cty HQ, CEO Maj Bob Potter MBE asked if the doc tested for brain failure!'

A Webmaster comment on the headgear: "Colonels, I'm glad to see the 'Pink' " See: 6 R Anglian Audit Boards

Notes from the site of the Joint Services Parachute Training Centre, Netheravon
Static Line Considered to be the normal method of entry to the sport of parachuting, the student uses a parachute that is automatically opened once they have exited the aircraft. The plane journey to the exit height of 3500' takes about 10 minutes. The student has a descent under canopy of about 5 minutes.
Tandem Parachuting The Tandem student is securely attached via a special harness to a Tandem Master Parachute Instructor. A special parachute, twice the size of a normal parachute, is used because it has to carry the weight of two instead of one parachutist. The plane journey to 12,500ft is 14 minutes in a Caravan and 20 Minutes in an Islander. During the 20 second freefall descent the Tandem Master controls everything. The parachute is opened at a height of 5000' and a leisurely descent is made to the landing area. The student often assists the Tandem Master in guiding the parachute to the landing area and so gets a very good idea how to steer.
