The Webmaster was honoured to be asked to
judge the Archive Folders for the 2005 competition.
Summary of the
observations passed
to each of the 7 competing detachments :
Thick, heavy and majestic - 537 photographs; A good range
of reports, lists and photographs;
A good range of activities reported in a novel form as a
diary of the year recorded in words, cartoons and
photographs by a new Cadet;
The metal cap badge on the cover was inspired as was the
be-ribboned title page, the inclusion of 2 medals and a
rosette;
The written humour was amusing and the exterior photograph
of the detachment premises was a thoughtful and superb
archive;
The humorous touches of the graphics and the personal
hand-written brief comments and observations from cadets
(especially 'Cadets is my life') were excellent.
Recommendations - consider adding:
An exterior folder front-page cover or spine title and
inside cover title page; the first and surnames of Adults
and Cadets under each photograph;
the Det Training programme; short written reports on
events, with the first and surnames of all participants; a
Det Nominal Roll showing their progression of ranks and
achievements throughout the year; the date and venue of
all events featured; an exterior photograph of the
detachment premises and the postal address.
