Cadets and Adult
Instructors from Beccles Detachment, Suffolk Army Cadet
Force, raised the handsome sum in excess of £1000 (half
of the money going to Detachment funds) for the Sailors,
Soldiers and Airman Families Association. They spent a day
bag-packing, in December 2005, at their local Tesco
supermarket to raise the money. For five years, a trophy has been presented annually to the Suffolk ACF Detachment raising the most money for SSAFA. In May 2006 the Beccles Detachment were the recipients of the trophy for the 3rd year in succession. The presentation of a cheque to the value of £1600, on behalf of Suffolk ACF, was made by Col Paul Denny, County Commandant Suffolk ACF to Col Robin Newell, Chairman of the SSAFA Fundraising Committee for Suffolk. Col Newell thanked all of those concerned with raising the money, saying that it would benefit both serving and ex-military personnel and their families in Suffolk. Over 400 were helped in 2005. |
