Suffolk Army Cadet Force
demonstration of
Tug of War v Norfolk ACF
at the National Athletics Meeting
Grantham
18 Jun 2005

On Saturday 18 Jun the victorious Suffolk ACF Tug of War Regional Girls Champions went to Grantham to put on a demonstration pull against Norfolk, the Regional runners up. The idea was to try and get the other regions interested in the sport so that we would have more teams to pull against in the national event next year.

The first end on the day was won by Suffolk. Unfortunately we lost the second end to Norfolk but the girls pulled through to win the deciding end so the final score was 2-1 to Suffolk.

We did have a slight advantage on the day over Norfolk as they could only manage to supply 5 members of their team, so as good sportsmen that we are, we graciously allowed them to borrow 3 members from our team so everyone managed to achieve a pull on the day.

We now have to knuckle down to training and prepare ourselves for the National Competition on 16 Jul at Colchester Garrison. With the strength and confidence we have gained over the last 12 months I see no reason why we shouldn't come away not just as Regional Champions but as National Champions as well.
