On
the weekend of 11th -13th June, in very mixed weather
conditions, ranging from squally showers to blistering
heat, 20 Suffolk ACF Cadets from C Company ventured into
the rolling Suffolk countryside around Cavendish, Clare
and Lavenham. Some
were on Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
expeditions while others were completing their Army
Cadet Force 2 or 3 Star Award. Carrying
all their kit, including tents and food, the Bronze DofE
and 2 Star groups spent one night out at Home Farm,
covering 16 miles in 2 days, while the Silver DofE and 3
Star groups were out for 2 nights, at Great Wood and
Easty Wood, covering 24 miles. They
were well supported by Senior Cadets and Adult Leaders,
who covered First Aid, safety and manned check points. The weekend was
organised by Staff Sergeant Instructor William Picton-Jenkins from Ipswich,
assisted by Staff Sergeant Instructors Roger Austin and Trevor Willoughby;
Sergeant Instructors Danny
Bayford, Alan Coyne,
Sinead Dunne, Mark Hazell
and Ian Partridge;
Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Luca
Miceli and Lance Sergeant Julian Perreira.
Lieutenant Gary Day
was the DofE Assessor. |
