The Emergency Life Support training provided by Heartstart
Suffolk Army Cadet Force will benefit a lot more people
thanks to new equipment provided by a building society.
Capt Les Jackson,
the co-ordinator for Heartstart Suffolk Coastal, contacted
staff at the Lowestoft branch of the Norwich and
Peterborough
Building Society to see if they could help
with kit needed for training.
Branch manager Mandy Gook offered to buy a combined
TV and Video set to be used during training sessions in
emergency life support.
The Heartstart initiative was set up by the British Heart
Foundation to provide free training in basic life support
for as many people as possible. It gives people the
knowledge and skills needed to help deal with: heart
attack, sudden collapse, choking and bleeding.
Mandy said when presenting the TV: 'I am pleased we were
able to help Heartstart. The work they are doing is
fantastic. To offer free training to everyone in order to
save lives is wonderful. I wish them much success with
this initiative.'
After the presentation Les said: 'We are very grateful to
Mandy and her team. The training we provide has already
resulted in lives being saved across the county and with
this extra equipment we can reach more people and give
them the skills they need.'
If you want to find out more or arrange training for
yourself, family or friends ring 01502 516768.
The majority of casualties are at home with friends when
the incident happens, every minute wondering what to do
reduces survival by 10% so be prepared to buy time and
save a life.
