BECCLES CADETS GAIN STAR
AWARDS
This is the text and photograph
submitted by CSM Mark Galley:
Eight Army Cadets from Beccles recently have successfully
gained their Two Star Award. All eight, who attend the Sir
John Leman High School in Beccles, gained their award
through a lot of hard work. They all completed the
gruelling 15-mile expedition in the Peak District, a
shooting test, various military assessments and also the
St John’s Essentials First Aid award.
Sergeant Major Mark Galley
who runs the unit at Beccles said: ‘All the Cadets have
worked really hard over the last few months especially on
their expedition where the weather was extremely bad. At
this stage it is about working as a team and helping each
other out. They can now look at themselves with a lot of
credit and with a sense of achievement by gaining their
two star.’
The cadets received the award at Lowestoft TA Centre from
Captain Les Jackson.
Anyone interested joining the cadets can contact 01502
714943 or visit the unit on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
at the Drill hall in Peddars Lane.
In alphabetical surname order: Cadets Jamie Barnard, Kirsty Featherstone, Lindsey Guy, Jon Hampson, Jon Hoffman, Lee Knowles and Syd Payne.
Missing from the photo is Cadet Gavin Hewitt.
