BUSY
TIME FOR BECCLES ARMY CADETS This
is the text and photographs submitted by CSM Mark Galley:
The weather in February
may stop things happening for some but for Beccles Army
Cadets it’s been another busy month. Since the middle of
January the cadets have been battling with each other for
the Inter Section Suffolk Old Comrades Associations
Shield. The Cadets are put into 3 sections and have been
assessed in their military, shooting, first aid, physical
and teamwork skills. The overall winners of the
competition were the Viking Section with Cpl Matthew Porter as the
Section Commander. Some of the Beccles Branch of the
Suffolk Old Comrades came and presented the Trophy to the
winning Section.
In January, at a very muddy County
Cross Country competition at Ipswich, Rachael
Cole won the overall Suffolk Competition
and, alongside her, Lindsey
Guy, Kirsty
Featherstone and Teresa
Featherstone were all selected to run for
Suffolk at Cambridgeshire in the regional Competition in
March.
The Basic Cadets completed their training at Lowestoft TA
Centre and there have been Heartstart and St Johns First
Aid Courses. Finally the cadets ended the months training
with an excellent night at the fun Megazone laser game in
Norwich.
March activities include a visit by the Regular Army
Training Team, senior cadet training at Thetford, football
against Norfolk ACF and an Easter Camp for everyone.
If anyone is interested in joining the Army Cadets either
visit us on a Tuesday or Thursday evening at the Drill
Hall, Peddars Lane or phone 01502 714943.
