© SMI Mark GalleyLCpl Robert Stanley (17) from Beccles Army Cadets is the Best Shot in the Eastern Region thanks to some sharp eyed shooting at the Army Cadets Regional shooting competition held at Beckingham, Lincolnshire.
With over 130 hot shots taking part from all other the eastern region including Nottinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Derbyshire, Cambridgeshire, Robert won overall best shot by two points and was presented the trophy by the Brigade Commander.
He had to shoot at various targets from 100 meters to 400 meters using the Army Cadets L98 Rifle.
Robert, who attends Langley School, is also in the Combined Cadet Force and is a key member of the Beccles Shooting Club.
He is hoping to join the Regular Army as an Officer.
He said after winning the best shot: ‘This is tremendous. I really enjoy target shooting. It is my main sport and to know that I have beat some excellent shots is great. Since joining the Army Cadet Force I have won the lots of shooting medals including the best shot in Suffolk whilst in Germany and now I am the best in the region.’ Laughing, he then said: ‘Next it’s the best in England! I have to thank Sergeant Majors Mark Galley and Alan Barnard for all their help and coaching and the Army Cadet Force to allow me the chance to do what I like and what I love doing.’
