The SACF 'Combat Cadet' team on their 20-22 Apr performance & the supporting Adult Staff. The Sat candle-lit supper, with flowers, on STANTA (by far the best base loc of any competing team) was an inspiration. RSMI Mal Anderson on his promotion and appointment as SACF RSM. Lt Alan Barnard on appointment as B Coy Shooting Offr and on his Commissioning. Mildenhall Det on a most impressive 8 May 'Annual Visit' and particularly to the recipients of their '1 Star' awards and promotion 'stripes'. Cdt Matthew Tate on establishing a site for Bury St Edmunds RA Det Suffolk ACF. Troy Finbow on his imminent joining the AAC and Tom Dowling on his University placement to read Geology, both Wattisham Det, A Coy. Cpl Lauren Stoddart, Hadleigh REME, on being the sole student at the Ipswich BTEC day on 19 May. She was perhaps overwhelmed by the heavy adult presence: the Ipswich Recruiting Army Careers Office Sgt and 3 Majors - Bob Potter MBE, John L Raybould TD and Bob West TD - with a total adult military service in excess of 158 years ! Adele Nicholls on creating a site for Stowmarket Royal Anglian Det Suffolk ACF SSI Hannah Follett on creating a site for Kesgrave PARA Det Suffolk ACF Our 2 SACF athletes who represented Eastern Region at the ACF National Athletics Championships in Grantham on Sat 16 Jun 07. Cdt Libby Kelly of Haverhill Det, A Coy, came 3rd in the 1500m. Cpl Tom Dowling of Wattisham Det, A Coy, came 3rd in the 100m, was part of the team that gained a National ACF Silver Medal on coming 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay and he was National Champion, winning a Gold Medal in the 200 m. Eastern Region came 2nd overall. Eastern Region Senior Boys and Intermediate Girls both won the cups for their respective groups. All concerned in organising, presenting and hosting the Sat 16 Jun SACF Open Evening/Reception in B St Eds. The crowning glory was the performance by the A Coy Corps of Drums. SMI Mark Galley on appointment as Cty D of E Officer. Beccles Det on providing over 20 Cadets for the Royal Anglian Day at Duxford. SI Andy Parker on being appointed as SACF County Sports Offr. Beccles Det on providing over 20 Cadets for the Beccles Duck Race. 4000 ducks were released and £8000 raised for the Radio Broadland 'Kidz' charity. Capt Brian Lawn JP, on promotion to Major as Officer Commanding B Coy. Padre David Flower on promotion to Chaplain 3rd Class (Major) and to SI Lee Ridgewell on promotion to SS1. Felixstowe (RA) Det on winning the Army Benevolent Fund Trophy for the best Army Cadet Force Detachment in Suffolk in 2007. Dougy James aged 73. A former WO1 Royal Anglian Staff Clerk, he served for 21 years with Suffolk ACF as County HQ Admin Offr, retiring in 1998 as a Captain. Click here for an obituary. |

after over 40 years of Suffolk ACF Service. With the lowest Regimental
number in Suffolk ACF - 481370 - he was a former Cdt, commissioned into SACF
in Jan 1966. After serving as a Det Comd and Coy Trg Offr, Mike was
appointed OC C Coy then Cty Trg Offr. Promotion to Lt Col followed on his
appointment as Dep Comdt. He then became OC A Coy and, latterly, a Staff
Offr at Cty HQ. (And still has a ‘Greatcoat’ !)![]() ![]() Commissioned in 1982 as Suffolk
ACF B Coy Admin Offr 1982-1990 he was appointed as SACF Quartermaster in

Latterly, for many years, he was County Sports Officer. Annual Camp was never complete without a quote from Ralph. Manning the 2007 Barry Buddon camp barrier he said: ‘I’d like a little wine.
