  • A Coy on winning the SACF X-C Championship on Sun 1 Feb 09 - 36 points; B Coy scored 30 points; C Coy scored 17 points and to B Coy on organising a superb event at St Felix School in Southwold in bitterly cold conditions. The first 6 in each class represented Suffolk at the Eastern Region X-C Championships on Sun 8 Mar at Waterbeach.
  • SSI Ian Partridge, Detachment Commander of Ipswich Grenadier Guards, at the conclusion of a week-long First Aid Trainers course at the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley, Surrey, on being awarded a Level 3 NVQ in training, an A2 Assessors award and the St John’s First Aid at Work Trainers Certificate
  • SMI (Retired) Becky Baldwin, former CSM A Coy, on being awarded a Licentiate in Youth Leadership by the prestigious City and Guilds Institute.
  • Those who contributed to the Offrs' Trg Day and Mess Dinner at the WETC on 7 / 8 Mar 09, especially C Coy, who provided staff for the Mess Dinner: Capt Ron McDaid, Cdt CSM Luke Derrett, RSMI Mark Galley and SMI John Graham, who ran the bar; SSI Christine Forsdike who, as ever, impeccably controlled the staff and proceedings; Capt Brian Gerrard, for the acquisition of kit and producing the seating plan; Maj Bob Potter MBE for co-ordinating everything - sadly, the PMC failed to photograph him hoovering the bar carpet !
  • Those cadets selected to represent SACF at the Eastern Region Rugby 7s at Hinckley on 22 Mar.
  • The cadets selected to represent E Region at the National Rugby 7s in Wales.
  • SI Garry Friend on promotion to SSI as OC Bungay Det from Apr 09.
  • PI Frances Cobbold on appointment as County BTEC Offr from May 09, on transfer from A Coy.
  • SSI Leigh Smith on passing the KGVI Leadership Course at Frimley
  • All those involved with the SACF Reception for Suffolk dignitaries in Ipswich on Sat 27 Jun 09, particularly CEO Maj Bob Potter MBE, QM Capt Brian Gerrard, AO SSI Christine Forsdike, OC C Coy Capt James Preston, C Coy for the information stands, demonstrations & drill squad, SI Paul Rumbell and the A Coy Corps of Drums.
  • All those involved with the SACF Annual Camp Otterburn Briefing weekend and 'Independence Day' games evening in Thetford on Sat 4 - Sun 5 Jul 09, particularly Commandant Col Kelvin Ives, Dep Comdt Lt Col Bob West TD, CEO Maj Bob Potter MBE, QM Capt Brian Gerrard, RSMI Mark 'Uncle Sam' Galley, SMI John Graham and SSI Claire Callow.
  • Padre David Flower RAChD on re-appointment as Mess Secretary, Officers' Mess.
  • Capt Margaret Jernigan, County Nursing Offr, on promotion to Major.
  • Beccles Pl, B Coy, on being awarded a certificate, and £50 cheque, in recognition of excellent support at the 2009 ‘Beccles Cycle for Life’ and help erecting ‘Hospital Fete’ stalls over several years, by The Rotary Club of Beccles.

The SACF webmasterOn Sun 30 Aug 2009  the Suffolk ACF Webmaster (also PRO and former President of the Officers' Mess Committee) retired after 41 years in military uniform.
Over 7000 photographs were taken of SACF activities from Jan 04 to Jul 09.
The new PMC  is Maj Terry Thacker but the new PRO is not known !
Age has taken its toll - right is me now !
My military history:
CCF - Commissioned into 6 Zambia Rifles Combined Cadet Force in Apr 1968 at Luanshya  High School, Zambia, becoming Company Commander Luanshya Contingent 1969-1970.
TA -  Enlisted into 6 (V) R Anglian Jul 1973. Commissioned in Apr 1975 and served as 2 Pl (Gangster) Comd A (R Norfolk) Coy 1973-1978; Coy Trg Offr 1978-1979; Coy 2IC 1979-1980. Posted to Bn HQ as Intelligence Offr 1980-1981. Coy Comd HQ (Suffolk) Coy 1981-1983 then Coy Comd A (Norfolk) Coy 1983-1986. Watchkeeper with 19 Mechanised Brigade 1987-1999. SO2 Logistics Staff Officer, ARRC, Bosnia 1996; SO2 TA / Reserves, Divulje, Croatia Dec 1997- Dec 1998. Retired (on age) from the TA in Apr 1999.
ACF - Commissioned into Norfolk ACF Apr 1997 and appointed DofE Offr, Asst PRO/PMC, Camp Adjutant and Welfare Officer Apr 1997. Appointed NACF PRO and PMC Officers' Mess April 1999. Opened Norfolk ACF website Jun 2000. Transferred to Suffolk ACF 16 Jan 2004 and appointed Webmaster Suffolk ACF and Asst PRO. Appointed PMC Officers’ Mess 1 Jan 2005 and Suffolk ACF PRO and Editor ‘Suffolk Cadet’ 1 Mar 2006. Opened Suffolk ACF website Jun 2004.
